Trump Invites Families of Injured National Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

Former President Trump stated on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the executive mansion.

He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Gatherings across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

Presidential Offer

The president said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told the press. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Response

Attendees assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid law enforcement in the capital.

Honoring the Soldier

“She was the individual that educators wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always ready to assist people.”

Funeral details for Sarah are still being arranged.

Judicial Actions and Policy Adjustments

Authorities have accused a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The event led the government to suspend refugee claims and cease granting visas to owners of Afghan passports.

Status of the Airman

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader the governor said on television.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to his relatives.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with distinction, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had courage,” he told the audience at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
