Militiamen chuckle as they ride on the back of a transport truck, racing past a series of nine dead bodies and heading facing the descending Sudanese evening sky.

"Observe such work. Observe this genocide," a fighter exclaims.

The combatants are celebrating a massacre that relief organizations suspect resulted in the deaths of more than thousands of people in the Sudan's urban center of el-Fasher in recent weeks.

A City Cut Off from the Outside

After maintaining the urban area under blockade for nearly an extended period, from late summer the RSF moved to strengthen its control and blockade the leftover inhabitants.

Orbital photography reveal that fighters commenced to erect a enormous earth barrier - a raised earthen wall - encircling the boundaries of the city, closing entry points and blocking humanitarian assistance.

While the blockade worsened, multiple people were slain in an RSF assault on a religious building on September 19th, while the United Nations reported fifty-three further were slain in unmanned aircraft and artillery attacks on a makeshift community in fall.

Regardless of the online effort being used by the paramilitary, their conduct in el-Fasher have provoked global condemnation.
