Mohamed Salah Extends Apology to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
Jones has revealed that Salah apologised to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the controversy from his recent interview.
What Happened
Salah was left out from a European match following criticising the club and claiming his relationship with manager had broken down.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
The head coach has refused to disclose on whether he got an explanation from the player.
Looking Ahead
He emphasized that the team's response remained positive. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and we all treated him normally,” Jones added.
The midfielder also noted that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “I understand there are specific approaches you can handle situations,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just not start, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
Liverpool's form have been impressive in the period after the interview fallout. Jones believes the forward's comments were not designed to harm the team.
“In moments of frustration, it has consistently come from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, performing and on a positive run.”
